PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of a magnified image formed by extracting a part of a wide angle image. SOLUTION: A system controller 100 calculates an image position and a magnification factor in the wide angle image of the magnified image based on the output of an encoder 34 for detecting moving direction and moving amount of a XY stage 33 of a Pechan prism 30 and the output of an encoder 64 for detecting the rotation direction and amount of a cam ring of a magnification optical system 60. The system controller 100 obtains the moving amount and direction of a coma aberration correcting lens 41, an astigmatism correcting lens 42, an astigmatism correcting lens group 43 and tilt angles of a correcting lens 71 and a second CCD camera 72 based on the calculated image position and magnification factor of the magnified image and referring to data of a lookup table stored in a read only memory 101.
