PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for positioning a coating apparatus that controls precisely the position of a table on which a die or a roll is mounted. SOLUTION: The method for positioning the table on which the coating die or the coating roll of the coating apparatus to be used for coating a film or sheet of a plastic is carried for moving is characterized by installing a linear motor between the table and a fixing block as well as a linear scale for detecting the position of the table thereon and positioning the table using feedback data from the position detector to the linear motor.
