<p>Conventional EL devices have involved a problem of short life although they have many advantages over other light-emitting devices. It is essential to improve the power efficiency since application of organic EL devices to portable displays is expected. The structure of a light-emitting device according to the invention has both an improved power efficiency and a prolonged life. In the structure, a first electroluminescent film (303) is interposed between a first anode (302) and a cathode (304), and a second electroluminescent film (305) and a second anode (306) are formed on the cathode (304). Ohmic contact of the first anode (302) with the second anode (306) is made to form a parallel circuit, thereby reducing the currents flowing through the electroluminescent films.</p> |
