A probe produces transmission signals when it is moved from its rest position. Infrared transmission signals are collected by a receiver, along with interference signals, and the combined received signal is differentiated with respect to time and then compared with a reference signal. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for analyzing signals received from a tactile system.
