The coupling device has a hollow shaft fitting (3) on the end of a motor (1) shaft (2) to accommodate a tool carrier (7) or a hollow shaft fitting on the end of the tool carrier to accommodate the output end of the shaft. The shaft and/or the tool carrier has a locking device for securing the tool carrier. The locking device is operated by centrifugal force. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an electric motor for driving a rotary tool with an inventive coupling device on the output side of its shaft.
