The device has at least one used water channel for water (2) pumped from a washing container, a fresh water (3) channel to the washing container and a latent heat store (1) for accepting heat energy from used water, storing thermal energy and outputting it to the fresh water. The latent heat store is integrated into the fresh water channel and arranged to produce both a direct throughflow (GLS) and a counterflow (GGS) of fresh water.
