A mouthguard 10 for use with an endoscope comprises a rigid tubular mouthpiece 12 formed integrally with a flexible restraining strap 14 with is dimensioned to encircle a patient's head. Fastening means 24 are provided at one end of the strap 14, which can be fitted over one of a plurality of apertures 26 in the other end of the strap 14 to secure the device in place comfortably. The strap may be narrowed around the apertures, widened around the mouthpiece, formed with slots (20 fig 1) and formed with an opening 30 to allow access to the patient's mouth. An elastomeric outer layer may be formed on the mouthpiece, which may be oval or elliptical in cross-section. |
