PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to detect the slope of the vehicle in an easy manner by detecting changes of the resistance values through the relative resolution between the slope unit and the fixed unit. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a slope unit(110) fixed to the vehicle body, and which moves in the tilted direction of the vehicle; a fixed unit(120) hinge-coupled to the slope unit in such a manner that the fixed unit rotates independently from the slope unit, wherein the fixed unit is applied with loads in a gravity direction regardless of the slope of the vehicle; a slope detection unit(130 to 132) fixed to the slope unit and the fixed unit, and which electrically detects the slope of the vehicle through the relative motion of the slope unit and the fixed unit; and an engine control unit(140) for analyzing electrical signals detected through the slope detection unit, and performing the corresponding control operation in accordance with the slope of the vehicle.
