Turbine element manufacture

A hollow element such as a turbine blade (80) is manufactured by cutting a metallic member (20) into first and second pieces (40,42) so that each has a cut side (44,46) and an opposite uncut side (22,24). The cut sides (44,46) are machined to form interior features (60) of the element (80). The uncut sides (22,24) are machined to form exterior features of the element (80). The pieces (40,42) are assembled with the cut sides (44,46) facing each other and the assembly is diffusion bonded.
