A track maintenance machine (1) for carrying out track maintenance operations is provided with a machine frame (2) supported on on-track undercarriages (3) and having an upwardly recessed portion (11), and an entry or exit (13), situated beneath the portion (11), of a driver's or operator's cab (12). The machine is equipped with a delimitation (16) which is arranged beneath the portion (11), is composed of two parts (17,18) spaced apart from one another in the transverse direction of the machine, and extends in the longitudinal direction of the machine, and a lifting device (22) connected to the machine frame (2) with a load-lifting means (26) which is adjustable by means of a drive (24) with respect to height and in the transverse and longitudinal direction of the machine.
