The batten positioning tool has a main part with a first positioning surface for one of the constructional elements (6',6''). A second part has a second positioning surface for the other constructional element. The main and second parts are mutually displaceable so that the distance between the first and second positioning surfaces may be adjusted. A clamp (12) allows one of the elements to be positioned against the first positioning surface. The clamp has a handle (20) which, together with the main part, constitutes a grip for the tool.
