PURPOSE: A GLF(Global Listing Format) for electronically transmitting multimedia programming contents and the EPG(Electronic Program Guide) information is provided to enable an IDP(Independent Data Provider) to electronically transmit the programming contents and the EPG information to a local distributing client or between countries using different languages. CONSTITUTION: The IDPs(102-106) having a GLF data file engine generate data files(202,202',202'') to be electronically transmitted to a receiving entity(108) by selecting the programming contents from a program list(110). Diverse listing elements selected from the program list are interlocked or cross-locked. Thus, the GLF data file formatted by the GLF metadata has the actually complete and perfect programming information without concerning which IDP generates a programming data file.
