PURPOSE: A membrane electrode assembly having a dual-structured catalyst layer and its preparation method are provided, to improve the performance of a fuel cell by employing a dual-structured catalyst layer where oxidation-reduction occurs. CONSTITUTION: The membrane electrode assembly comprises an electrode, an ion conductive electrolyte membrane(1), an ion conductive polymer catalyst layer(62, 63), a hydrophobic polymer catalyst layer(6, 61) and a gas diffusion layer(4, 41), wherein an ion conductive electrolyte membrane(1), an ion conductive polymer catalyst layer(62, 63), a hydrophobic polymer catalyst layer(6, 61) and a gas diffusion layer(4, 41) are aligned in turns, and an ion conductive polymer catalyst layer are in gear with the hydrophobic polymer catalyst layer in comb pattern to form a dual structure. Preferably the ion conductive polymer is a perfluorosulfonate ionomer and the hydrophobic polymer is a polytetrafluoroethylene. |
