A method of preparing a composite material comprising metallic nanoparticles dispersed in a thermoplastic (co)polymer matrix comprising fabricating the particles, treating with a compound facilitating their incorporation (coupling agent), incorporating the particles and emulsifying with a surfactant and optionally an additive and polymerisation of the emulsion in the presence of a water soluble initiator. An Independent claim is included for a composite material comprising metallic nanoparticles prepared by the claimed method.
