PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) including a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter is provided to obtain high luminance and high color purity. CONSTITUTION: An LCD includes first and second substrates(100,200) that face each other and include a plurality of red, green and blue pixels, and a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter(104a,104b,104c) that is formed on the first substrate and represents red, green and blue colors corresponding to the red, green and blue pixels, respectively. The liquid crystal color filter has different thicknesses respectively corresponding to the red, green and blue pixels. The LCD further includes an overcoat layer(108) that is formed of the same material as the material of the liquid crystal color filter on the liquid crystal color filter and planarizes the liquid crystal color filter, a transparent pixel electrode(112) formed on the overcoat layer, a liquid crystal layer(300) formed on the pixel electrode, and a transparent common electrode(202) formed between the liquid crystal layer and the second substrate.
