PURPOSE: A device for controlling engine rotation stop by estimating kinetic energy and a stop position is provided to enhance the quality of starting and exhaust gas by reducing a change of the engine rotation stop position and exactly obtaining information about the initial position of a crankshaft in starting an engine. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling engine rotation stop by estimating kinetic energy and a stop position stops at least one of ignition control and fuel injection control on the basis of an engine stop command and stops engine rotation. The device for controlling engine rotation stop includes a compression pressure increase control unit(30) stopping engine rotation by increasing compression pressure in a compression stroke, in stopping engine rotation. The compression pressure increase control unit increases suction amount in a suction stroke just before engine rotation stop to increase compression pressure in the subsequent compression stroke.
