The device has a valve chamber (18) with at least one inlet and outlet channel (14,16), a lifting rod (26) movable by an actuator, a valve element (20) on the rod that interacts with at least one valve seat, whereby at least one damping element is provided that reduces the speed of the rod when closing the valve. The damping element(s) simultaneously acts as a valve element.
