PURPOSE: A recording and/or reproducing device is provided to enable a supporting part to support a sidewall of a compartment in right and left widths when a clearance definition member is received in the compartment of an engagement member, thereby reducing a load concentrated on a hinge formed in the engagement member by the clearance definition member. CONSTITUTION: The first and second guide shafts support an optical pickup in an opposed section of the optical pickup. An optical pickup mobile unit is guided by the first and second guide shafts. An elastic member is contacted with the first and second guide shafts, and applies a force to the guide shafts in vertical direction. A control screw moves the first and second guide shafts in a direction opposite to the direction of the force applied by the elastic member. A skew controller controls a skew by controlling slopes of the first and second guide shafts.
