PURPOSE: An information processing apparatus is provided to properly display an error when a recording unit has a fault and to prevent a time-out error even if the recording unit rejects data transmission. CONSTITUTION: A computer(20) includes a CPU(40), which is interfaced with a computer bus(41). The computer bus(41) includes a display interface(42) interfaced with a display, a printer interface(44) interfaced with a printer(30), a floppy disk drive interface(45) interfaced with a floppy disk drive, a keyboard interface(46) interfaced with a keyboard, and a pointing device interface(47) interfaced with a pointing device. A main memory(48) is connected to the computer bus(41). The CPU(40) loads an application command sequence onto the main memory(48) so as to execute the application command sequence in the main memory(48).
