PURPOSE: A solid electrolyte, its preparation method and a lithium battery employing the electrolyte are provided, to improve the ion conductive of a solid electrolyte and to enhance the charge/discharge velocity, output and cycle lifetime of a battery employing the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION: The solid electrolyte is represented by aLi2O-bB2O3-cM-dX, wherein M is at least one selected from the group consisting of TiO2, V2O5, WO3 and Ta2O5; X is at least one selected from the group consisting of LiCl and Li2SO4; and 0.4<a<0.55, 0.4<b<=0.55, 0.02 <c<0.05, a+b+c=1 and 0<=d/(a+b+c)<0.2. The method comprises the steps of mixing a precursor compound of LI2O, BaO3, and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of TiO2, V2O5, WO3 and Ta2O5, and milling the mixture; heating the mixture at a temperature where the precursor compound is decomposed into Li2O; heating the obtained one to melt it; and cooling the molten one rapidly to obtain the solid electrolyte. Preferably the thermal decomposition is carried out at 600-800 deg.C and the melting is carried out at 900-1,500 deg.C. |
