LOCAL AREA WIRELESS COMMUNICATION UNIT AND HANDOFF PROCESSING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A local area wireless communication unit and its handoff processing method are provided to prevent degradation of throughput even if handoff occurs in deteriorated wireless channel environment. CONSTITUTION: When connection to a mobile terminal is set(S410), a microcontroller commands a baseband controller to transmit HCI(Host Controller Interface) data and transmission data to be transmitted to the mobile terminal while being buffered in a handoff buffer(S420). The microcontroller controls an HCI to delete or maintain a packet buffered in the handoff buffer according to whether a baseband ACK signal is received from the mobile terminal(S430,S440). When the microcontroller receives an INC(Inter NAP Communication)_ACK signal, a handoff completion signal and a link re-establishment signal, from a new AP(Access Point) as the mobile terminal is newly connected to the AP(S450), it forwards the data packet buffered in the handoff buffer to the new AP(S460).
