OPTICAL DISK RECORDER AND RECORDING POWER DETERMINING METHOD

PURPOSE: An optical disk recorder is provided to exactly output a maximum value and a minimal value of an RF signal recorded on an optical disk, thereby obtaining an optimal power of a laser beam used for recording information on a CD(Compact Disk) or a DVD(Digital Versatile Disk). CONSTITUTION: An extractor(201) extracts a maximum value and a minimal value from an RF signal. The first and second converters(205a,205b) convert the maximum RF signal value and the minimal RF signal value into digital signals. The first detector(203a) detects a time difference between the maximum value of the RF signal outputted from the extractor(201) and the maximum value of the RF signal outputted from the first converter(205a). The second detector(203b) detects a time difference between the minimal value of the RF signal outputted from the extractor(201) and the minimal value of the RF signal outputted from the first converter(205a). The first error compensator(207a) compensates for the maximum value signal by using the time difference signal of the first detector(203a) and the maximum value signal of the first converter(205a). The second error compensator(207b) compensates for the minimal value signal by using the time difference signal of the second detector(203b) and the minimum value signal of the second converter(205b). An operator(209) operates the signals, and outputs an optimal recording power.
