PURPOSE: An anti-oxidative composition comprising 4-pyridinecarboxylic acid hydrazide as an active ingredient is provided, which compound directly reacts with free radicals to scavenge them, so that it can be useful for treating disease caused by free radicals. CONSTITUTION: The anti-oxidative composition for prevention and treatment of arteriosclerosis and Alzheimer's disease comprises a therapeutically effective amount of isoniazid (4-pyridinecarboxylic acid hydrazide) represented by formula (1) as an active ingredient and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, wherein the isoniazid has antimicrobial activity to only Mycobacteria.
