PURPOSE: A digital video recorder system and an operating method of the system are provided to operate a digital video recorder in connection with various multiplexers. CONSTITUTION: A digital video recorder system includes a multiplexer(301), a monitor(303), and a digital video recorder(302). The multiplexer reconstructs divided images from video signals received by multiple cameras(300) or reconstructs divided images from a selectively reproduced video signal. The monitor displays the reconstructed divided images. The digital video recorder extracts control information from a video signal received from the multiplexer to store the control information and video signal when a recording operation is executed, and reproduces the control information corresponding to a selected video signal together with the selected video signal and outputs the reproduced control information and video signal to the multiplexer when a reproduction operation is carried out.
