PURPOSE: Provided is a water softener able to convert water inlet and outlet which is able to open and close a valve toward a cold water container or a hot water container according to each pipe path of the cold and hot water container to supply softened water having a temperature desired by users to the users and utilizes the other container by controlling time when the efficiency of an ion exchange resin filled up with one side container lowers. CONSTITUTION: The water softener comprises a cold water and a hot water container(11,17) filled up with an ion-exchange resin on the inner part of a water softener main body(10), a cold water and a hot water transferring pipe(12,16) formed on the center of the cold water and the hot water container to respectively ion-exchange cold raw water and hot raw water, a rotary conversion valve(22) installed on the lower part of the water softener main body and controlling inflow and outflow of the cold and hot water, a water inlet hole(38) and a water outlet hole formed on the rotary conversion valve to connect a water inlet(21) and a water outlet to a hot water inlet part(41) and a hot water outlet part or a cold water inlet part(43) and a cold water outlet part, a speed-reducing motor connected to the rotary conversion valve to be able to rotate with reducing the speed and a control part(37) controlling the speed-reducing motor to allow the rotary conversion valve to open and close the cold water inlet and outlet part and the hot water inlet and outlet part.
