The robot control circuit is software based with multiple function elements (18) each specific for developing preset control functions. It has multiple universal elements (112) for developing all functions of the control circuit. A signal source produces a conversion signal and, in dependence on at least one signal, each universal element can convert to a function element and-or each function element can be actuated. Claims include a method of operating the control circuit.
