The invention relates to a hip prosthesis comprising a shaft (1) which is to be fixed in the medullary channel of the femur, the distal section (7) of sa id shaft - which is to be fixed in the diaphysis - comprising a core cross- section which tapers towards the end (11) and has longitudinal ribs at least on the lateral (19) and medial sides (20), the height of said ribs increasin g from the proximal to the distal side.
