<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory which is built into a system for compressing a motion picture frame composed of N slices and can efficiently store frames for motion picture compression with a little memory capacity. <P>SOLUTION: The memory includes a motion picture frame processing area composed of a previous frame region composed of N slices of a first group, a restored frame region composed of K slices of a second group, and a current frame region composed of M slices of a third group.
