<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display having a uniform cell gap and no display defect by optimizing scattering density of spacers and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: In a projecting and recessing diffusion layer 3, projecting parts are so disposed that the intervals between top points of the projecting parts are 6 to 20 μm and the heights of the top points are formed at random and the average difference of the heights between the top parts of the projecting parts and bottom parts of recessed parts are regulated to be about 0.5 μm. Spacers 5 are scattered onto a substrate 2 by a capillary air current type spacer scattering method and the spacers 5 of spherical particles having 3 μm diameter are scattered with 300 pieces/mm<SP>2</SP>scattering density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
