The invention relates to a method for the characterisation or/and identification of proteins which can find application for the monitoring, diagnosis and prognosis of patients with primary renal cell carcinoma, for the selection of patients suitable for therapy with G250-specific antibodies and as therapeutic target structures for the treatment of the above disease. The proteins or polypeptides or nucleic acids coding for the above can also be used for the identification of pharmacologically active substances or/and themselves as immunogenes for the stimulation of specific immune responses.
