PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set that improves a camera shake problem at the time of image picking up while a display side housing and an operation side housing are folded in two and to provide an image pickup method. SOLUTION: This portable telephone set is provided with the display side housing 1 having an information display part, the operation side housing 2 having a key operating part, a digital camera module 4 having an image pickup lens 41, a secondary battery pack 22 and a hinge 3 that can fold the display side housing 1 and the operation side housing 2 in two. The image pickup lens 41 and the secondary battery pack 22 are provided in the operation side housing 2. In addition, the secondary battery pack 22 is provided on the hinge 3 side in the lengthwise direction of the operation side housing 2 and the image pickup lens 41 is provided on the opposite side from the hinge 3 across the secondary battery pack 22, respectively.
