<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which a nozzle surface is cleaned with high quality by forming an meniscus ink of a specified size exhibiting a high repetition stability. <P>SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder has an ink jet head for recording on a recording member by ejecting ink, a section for storing cleaning ink, and a thin tube cleaning nozzle communicating with the cleaning ink storing section and capable of forming a meniscus of cleaning ink at the forward end part thereof. The ink jet head is cleaned by absorbing dirt, residual ink, and the like, on the nozzle surface of the ink jet head into the meniscus and projection of the meniscus being formed in the cleaning nozzle is controlled by shifting the liquid level of the cleaning ink stored in the cleaning ink storing section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
