PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical type tensioner device provided with an upper plunger provided with a loosening side shoe and a lower plunger provided with an overhang side shoe slidably in a cylindrical body to energize the upper and lower plungers by a spring force and capable of sufficiently absorbing the vibration and impact of a chain even if a body outer shape is small. SOLUTION: A middle plunger 6 is provided between the upper plunger 4 and the lower plunger 5. A main return spring 7 and an auxiliary return spring 8 provided concentrically with the main return spring 7 are attached between the upper plunger 4 and the middle plunger. A belleville spring 9 is provided between the lower plunger 5 and the middle plunger.
