PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair type massage apparatus, having a construction suitable for supporting and giving a medical treatment to the sole, the back of the heel, and the like which are the lower end parts of the lower limb, and supporting the sole of a person to be treated whether the lower limb of the treated person is bent or not when the treated person is seated. SOLUTION: An expandable footrest 4 is disposed in front of a seat part 2 of a chair type massage machine 1. The footrest 4 has a calf placing member 4a for supporting the calf of the treated person and a foot placing member 4b for supporting the sole and the back of the heel of the treated person. The foot placing member 4b is provided with a sole support surface supporting the sole of the treated person and a heel support surface erected in the rear of the sole support surface to support the back of the heel of the treated person.
