<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle communication system and an in-vehicle communication method, capable of estimating a state of consumables deterioration caused by acceleration/deceleration and travel distance of a vehicle by monitoring the acceleration and the travel distance, and notifying a user of the estimated state. <P>SOLUTION: A GW 10 receives vehicle speed information and travel distance information from a body-system ECU 30, and calculates the acceleration from the vehicle speed information. The calculated acceleration is converted into a numerical value on the basis of a numerical value conversion table, and the converted numerical value is accumulated and stored as cumulative value. Based on the cumulative value, the travel distance is converted into a numerical value and is added to the cumulative value. Notification information wherein the state of the consumables related to the acceleration/deceleration and the travel distance is estimated is produced.
