摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information on variation of a gene related to type II diabetes, to provide a method for detecting a person who has a high possibility that the person may be attacked by the type II diabetes, before the person has been attacked thereby, by using the gene related to the type II diabetes, and to provide a kit for the same. <P>SOLUTION: Polymorphism in TFAP-2&beta; gene, for example, substitution of guanine with thymine in the 774 position of a first intron of the TFAP-2&beta; gene or tandem repeat polymorphism in the first intron, is found out as the polymorphism related to the type II diabetes. Because the variation in the TFAP-2&beta; gene is found out in type II diabetic patients with significantly higher frequency when compared with normal persons, the polymorphism in the TFAP-2&beta; gene is useful for detecting a person who has such a diathesis as to immunologically easily suffer from the type II diabetes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
