HIGH-PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE, AND LIGHTING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device capable of restraining overshoot of a high-pressure discharge lamp voltage or a high-pressure discharge lamp current generated in reversing polarity, and of restraining vibration of an arc tube post, in a rectangular wave lighting type high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device; and to provide a lighting system. SOLUTION: This high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device is provided with: a D.C. power source 1; a polarity reversing circuit 3 having a series circuit comprising at least a pair of switching elements Q2 and Q3 for converting a D.C. voltage from the power source 1 into a rectangular wave voltage; a high-pressure discharge lamp LA energized by the rectangular wave voltage from the reversing circuit 3; a measurement circuit 5 for measuring a generation period of a transition current generated in reversing the polarity of the rectangular wave voltage; and a control circuit MC for controlling the switching elements according to the measurement period of the measurement circuit 5.
