PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shelf structure which enables the altering of the depth thereof. SOLUTION: Shelf receptacles 14 provided on the side wall part of a book shelf are each constituted of an erected surface 21 and a support surface 22 and a positioning part 41 and a retaining part 42 are formed on the support surface 22. A shelf board is disposed on the foreside F of the shelf receptacle 14 and an extension member on the inner side B. The extension member is provided with a wall part 73 for determining the depth of the placement area and an insertion part for retaining so opened downward to let the retaining part 42 be inserted thereinto is formed at the central part of the bottom surface of the extension member. It is so arranged as to enable the formation of the first state 91 in which the wall part 73 of the extension member is disposed on the inner side B and the second state 92 in which the wall part is disposed on the foreside F and a support area 94 is so set as to allow the extension member 52 to be supported in both the states 91 and 92 on the inner side B of a shelf board support area 93 of the shelf receptacle 14 supporting the shelf board.
