1,234,595. Filter. A. DIEFENBACH. 26 Nov., 1968 [9 Dec., 1967; 4 Oct., 1968], No. 56001/68. Heading B1D. A filter comprises two perforate tubes B and C which normally locate one within the other (Fig. 1, not shown), with a tubular section of filter cloth H forming a re-entrant filter bag therebetween, liquid being pumped into the bag through inlet tubes N, and filtrate passing through the cloth outwards through tube B and inwards through tube C. Subsequently a hydraulic jack Q raises cover E and tube C so that the cloth is opened out to discharge filter cake. The cloth may be made in two tubular sections clamped to respective tubes B, C. In Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) the cover and inner tube are lifted by a winch, and hydraulic jacks (4, 5) are used to force the cover into and out of engagement with the upper flange on outer tube (B'). An enclosing sleeve comprising rigid, lower member (7) and upper, flexible member (1) carried with cover (E') guides discharged cake to rotary screw discharge devices (2). Jacks 6 assist cake discharge by vibrating inner tube (C'). Filter cake may be washed and dried by passing liquid and then gas outwards from tube C to tube B in Fig. 1, or inwards from tube (B') to tube (C') in Fig. 3, wherein outer tube (B') is enclosed by impervious tube (3). Fixed or movable brushes and nozzles delivering washing liquid and drying air may clean the cloth and gasket U after cake discharge. |
