PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an automobile weather strip which prevents insertability into an opening margin portion and holdability from being damaged by keeping the tip of a holding lip protrusively mounted on the sidewall of a welt having an approximately U-shaped cross-section always apart from the opposite sidewall at a desired interval. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the automobile weather strip 1 equipped with the welt 2 having the U-shaped cross-section and enveloping a core material 3, the weather strip having the U-shaped cross-section is extruded in the state that the tips of the protruding holding lips 4 and 5 are bonded to both the inner wall surfaces 2a and 2b of the welt 2 respectively or in the state that the tip of the holding lip 4 is bonded to the opposite inner wall surface 2b, and then bonding portion 6 of the tips of the holding lips 4 and 5 is divided. This invention includes a manufacturing method of the automobile weather strip in which the melt is extruded in the U-shaped cross-section, in the state where a highly rigid thermoplastic resin core material having an approximately L-shaped cross-section is lined on the inner side of a synthetic rubber solid material.
