PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IT type CCD (charge coupled device) imaging apparatus which performs high speed photography with satisfactory sensitivity without providing an additional circuit. SOLUTION: In the CCD imaging apparatus constituted so that a plurality of pixels by a photoelectric transducer which accumulates electric charges according to incident light intensity are two-dimensionally arranged in horizontal and vertical directions, vertical transfer CCDs provided by every column simultaneously receive pieces of image information by the accumulated electric charges of each pixel, simultaneously transmits it in the vertical direction and pieces of image information of each pixel are serially outputted by transferring pieces of the image information of pixels for each one line to be serially and successively transmitted from each vertical transfer CCD in the horizontal direction by a horizontal transfer CCD, a means for performing vertical transfer by being synchronized with speed of a subject moving in the vertical direction is taken and accumulation of the electric charges according to one and the same image information is performed together.
