PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator for reducing a hoistway space in a building without impairing vibration control performance, and easily adjusting pressing force of a shoe material to a guide rail. SOLUTION: A guide shoe 8 is arranged inside a vertical frame 5 installed on both side surfaces of a cage 3. The guide shoe has a pair of first shoe materials 9A and 9A for slidingly engaging with a side surface of the guide rail 1 and a second shoe material 9B for slidingly engaging with a tip surface of the guide shoe. The first shoe materials are elastically supported on the opposite side of a sliding contact surface with the guide rail by a first elastic support means 10, pressed in the longitudinal direction to the guide rail, and can adjust the pressing force to the guide rail. The second shoe material is elastically supported before and behind a sliding contact surface with the guide rail by a second elastic support means 11, pressed outside in the horizontal direction to the guide rail, and can adjust the pressing force to the guide rail.
