PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an accident that excessive tension acts on an operation cable of a cable type steering device to generate permanent elongation. SOLUTION: A steering shaft 29 connected to a steering handle and a pulley shaft 32 for supporting a driving pulley 59 are coaxially supported by a driving pulley casing 12. A torque limiter 38 is disposed between facing shaft ends of the steering shaft 29 and the pulley shaft 32. Even when excessive steering torque is inputted into the steering handle, the torque limiter 38 slips to allow relative rotation of the steering shaft 29 and the pulley shaft 32. Therefore, the accident that excessive tension acts on inner cables 15i and 16i of the operation cable to generate permanent elongation is prevented, and decrease of the tensions of the inner cables 15i and 16i is minimized to prevent decrease of steering feeling.
