<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variant D-aminoacylase scarcely given inhibitory action by a substrate, and to provide a use of the same. <P>SOLUTION: This variant D-aminoacylase is obtained by modifying amino acid residues in specified positions in an amino acid sequence composing a D-aminoacylase derived from an Alcaligenes denitrificans subsp. xylosoxydans MI-4 strain. This variant has high reaction specificity and is scarcely given the inhibitory action by the substrate. Therefore, the variant forms a D-amino acid in a good yield by using an N-acyl-DL-amino acid in a high concentration as the substrate.
