PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding method for segment conductors wherein a torch is moved to positions suitable for welding segment conductors for significantly reducing a poor weld. SOLUTION: With respect to the end flat faces 14 and 24 of separate segment conductors 11 and 21 on one end side or the other end side, to be welded together by a torch, the following procedure is taken: the positions of their two vertexes which adjoin each other on the torch side but do not adjoin chamfered portions 15 and 25 are measured through image processing through four pairs of measuring windows W1, the measuring windows in each pair being orthogonal to each other. Thereby, the positions are determined as torch movement basic information. The torch is moved based on the torch movement basic information.
