PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of measuring viscosity stably and highly accurately even in the case of viscosity measurement of a sample liquid using a volatile solvent, and cleaning the inside of a viscometer easily and sufficiently. SOLUTION: This automatic viscosity measuring device 1 is equipped with a time measuring space part 21 for measuring a falling time per prescribed volume of the sample liquid, a sample liquid reservoir 25 communicated with a lower part of the time measuring space part 21, and the viscometer 20 communicated with the sample liquid reservoir 25 and having a sample liquid injection tube 26 for injecting the sample liquid into the sample liquid reservoir 25. The device 1 is constituted so that the falling time in the time measuring space part 21 of the sample liquid is measured in the sealed state wherein the sample liquid in the viscometer 20 is not communicated with the atmosphere, and constituted so that a cleaning liquid is injected into the viscometer 20 from the higher position than the highest level of the sample liquid injected into the viscometer 20 to thereby clean the inside of the viscometer 20.
