PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the stop of an engine when an intake valve and an exhaust valve overlap, to dispense with a design change of a cam profile to improve the restartability of the engine, and to dispense with a change of offset setting or the like of valve spring force to prevent a lowering of power performance in a stop control device for the engine. SOLUTION: This stop control device for the engine is provided with a control means provided with an engine stop control part for stopping ignition control and fuel injection control when an engine stop signal is inputted, and continuing power supply to an electric circuit for controlling the engine, and an alternator power generation control part for driving an alternator only when the intake valve and exhaust valve are in the overlapped state to perform power generation control.
