PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2-aminotropone, by which the 2-aminotropone can industrially and simply be produced in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 2-aminotropone is characterized by thermally reacting tropolone with ammonia in a reaction medium comprising ammonia water in conditions proceeding the reaction in a process of formula 1 for a time not decomposing the reaction raw materials and the 2-aminotropone to produce the 2-aminotropone at one step.
