Process for cleaning gas streams containing organic sulfur-containing materials and/or soot particles comprises feeding the gas streams finely distributed through a liquid catalyst arranged in a reactor at 85-110[deg] C, and feeding the streams leaving the catalyst through a scrubber filled with water at 75-90[deg] C, preferably 78-86[deg] C. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the process.
