The bed (1) comprises at least one bed section (3) with a raised floor (7) containing a storage chamber for irrigation water. The chamber has a supporting cover extending in the upwards direction and is in communication with the bedding material via openings (13) in the cover. The bed comprises at least one bed section assembled from side parts (16), to which further bed sections can be secured. Each bed section includes a box (4) which can be filled with bedding.
